Visit Us Online!

In these extraordinary days of social distancing and isolation, our original guidelines for visiting the Museum of Portable Sound – in person, listening to our sounds from a single shared mobile phone – are no longer feasible. Therefore, we have decided to rethink the way we engage with our audience and share our collections with the world. Beginning today, anyone in the world with access to an internet connection and a web browser will be able to visit our museum – via video chat. Simply fill out our Contact Form and we’ll get back to you to schedule your visit and provide you with info on exactly how it will work.

NOTE: The recording and redistribution of Museum of Portable Sound online visits is strictly prohibited.

Our Director & Chief Curator is available for you!

Our online visitors will experience the same level of access to our staff for the duration of their visit: every single online visitor gets to have an exclusive, private meeting with our Director and Chief Curator!

New: Admission

For more than four years, our Director and Chief Curator has met face to face with each of our visitors, free of charge. That model is no longer sustainable, particularly in the days of Coronavirus. Previous to the outbreak, the only funding the Museum of Portable Sound received came from our Director’s teaching and public speaking engagements – all of which have been cancelled for the foreseeable future (our Gift Shop is also a small source of occasional funding).

Our online visits will therefore cost £10 for a one hour (or less) visit. This is not a decision we have taken lightly – if there were any way to fulfil our mission while continuing the Museum of Portable Sound’s long tradition of free admission, we would.

Thank you for your continued support during these troubling times. We look forward to hosting you in an online visit soon – and we hope to be able to see you in person again soon.

While you’re here…

…we need your help. For four years, we have managed to keep admission to the Museum of Portable Sound free for all. But this model hasn’t proven to be sustainable. If you value what we do, and would like to help us continue to fulfil our mission of bringing the culture of sound to the world one visitor at a time, please consider making a donation or supporting us long-term on Patreon.
