Suitable for Adults…

Friedrich Jürgenson
Konstantin Raudive
Raymond Cass

This year’s Haunted exhibition for adults will focus on the world of EVP – Electronic Voice Phenomenon, a specialty of investigators of the paranormal dating back to 1959 and the mysterious off-air recordings made by Swedish painter Friedrich Jürgenson who believed he was hearing voices from beyond the grave!

Our exhibition features his work alongside that of Konstantin Raudive (author of the 1970 paranormal classic Breakthrough) and Yorkshire licensed hearing aid technologist Raymond Cass.

Harry Houdini & psychic medium Annie Benninghofen holding a ‘spirit trumpet’ used to communicate with the dead, Chicago 1926.
Every year for a decade after his death, Houdini’s widow Bess held a seance to contact him. Her final attempt was released on record.
Bess Houdini at the last seance she held to contact Harry Houdini (1936). Note the spirit trumpet on the table.

You’ll also be able to listen in on the final seance held for world-famous illusionist and notorious spiritualism debunker Houdini, officiated by his widow Bess, on Halloween night 1936!

…and Families!

The 1973 edition of Disney’s Chilling, Thrilling Sounds of the Haunted House LP record.

For families, we’ve got sounds from the classic Walt Disney sound effects library, field recordings of bats and crows, and some eerie wax cylinder recordings – some of the earliest sounds ever recorded!
